A Prussian artillery shell bursts in the dormitory of St. Nicholas School during the Siege of Paris.

The Prussians bombard Paris and hit a Christian Brothers School.

The Prussians laid siege to Paris from September 1870 to January 1871. During that time, they shelled the city. At night on January 9, 1871, a shell hit St. Nicholas School where many children were sheltering with the Christian Brothers. Four students were killed.
