The funeral of a Brother who died of small pox after nursing small pox victims.

Brother Néthelme is mortally wounded at Bourget.

A Brother is killed trying to help clear the wounded from the battlefield.

This scene shows the funeral procession of a Brother who nursed small pox patients, then contracted the disease himself, and died.  The artist shows the casket being carried by French soldiers through the streets of Pontarlier, while the Brothers walk arm-in-arm with citizens of the town or march holding the hands of their students.

The scene below shows the shooting of Brother Néthelme on the battlefield of Bourget where he falls onto the very stretcher he had been carrying to transport the wounded.
