Builder William Shannon's contract read, "There are to be openings in the walls for two outside doors, four inside doors, and twenty-six windows."

Due to the high costs, windows in this era of American history were small and sparse. This is one of the seven remaining of the original 27 sash windows,

It is anticipated this particular window would have used cylindar glass, which was glass blown in a cylinder, split and rolled into a flat sheet and then cut into panes.

Making what looks like a simple window by today's terms, required a sashmaker to build the frame and sash, a blacksmith to build the hardware and a glazier to blow, cut and fit the glass.
